About the Department
Brief History:
Almost from the very inception of the institution History was introduced and since then History Department has been imparting education to the students in both honours and general courses.So far as honours course is concerned, about 60 students are admitted every year. Students are evaluated through periodical tests apart from this departmental seminars are also organized to enrich the students and teachers alike.
Apart from teaching activities, teachers participate regularly in seminars and workshops.We place great emphasis on regular assessment of a students’ progress. With that objective class tests are taken. Students’ are encouraged to present short seminar papers and take part in group discussions.Many students of this department are placed in various responsible positions in various fields in India and abroad.
Overview:
The Department of History, City College, has five faculty members. All of them have the required UGC qualifications for teaching and learning. Besides, the normal teaching process, the faculty members are actively engaged in research and publication in peer reviewed journals.
