Infrastructure:
The department is equipped with a seminar library with updated resources for the perusal of the students as and when required. Some of the classes are conducted in a smart-room with ICT facilities.
Distinctiveness:
In order to provide a fruitful platform for the exchange of ideas and to promote academic discussions among the students, the Department publishes an annual tri-lingual magazine 'Perspective' (in English, Bengali and Hindi). In the post-COVID phase, the department has adapted to the changing demands of the teaching-learning methodology to incorporate smart-board teaching and visual presentations to aid the students in properly understanding complex concepts and in the successful and effective delivery of lectures.
Best Practices:
Apart from the normal classroom lectures, the faculty members of the Department occasionally organize remedial classes aimed at doubt-clearing and book–reviews. Along with this, efforts are made to provide the students with extra resources and lectures related to civil-service examinations, as most of the students who enrol in the academic programme have often expressed a desire to opt for such examinations in their future.
